Your memories are personal. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the control you have. It forms part of our Terms of Service. The Service is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME], trading as "Leave Your Legacy", in South Africa.
1. What we collect
- Account data — your name, email address and login details (via our authentication provider).
- Your content — the memories you write, the voice notes you record, and the life story generated from them.
- Usage data — basic technical and usage information needed to run the Service (for example, to apply fair-use limits and diagnose problems).
2. How we use it
We use your data solely to provide the Service: to store your memories, transcribe voice notes, organise your timeline, generate your life story, apply fair-use limits, and let you share with the loved ones you choose. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models.
3. Private by default
Your memories are private to you. They are only visible to someone else when you deliberately share a memory or invite a loved one to your profile. You stay in control of what is shared and can revoke access.
4. Where your data is stored
Your data is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the Cape Town (af-south-1) region. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it.
5. Service providers we share with
We share the minimum necessary data with trusted providers that help us run the Service:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, storage and email delivery.
- OpenAI — to power AI features such as transcription, summarisation and life-story generation. Content sent for these features is processed to return a result and is not used to train their models.
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record for Premium subscriptions; Paddle processes your payment details (we do not store card numbers).
6. Retention
We keep your content for as long as your account is active, so your story is there when you return. You can delete individual memories at any time, or request deletion of your whole account and its data.
7. Your rights & choices
- Access & export — you can view and export your memories.
- Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and data by emailing support@wovenlegacy.app or using the deletion request in the app.
- Correction — you can edit your memories and account details at any time.
These rights are provided in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
